A former football player for University of California, Davis was arrested last Saturday morning after he almost beat a man to death on the Las Vegas Strip.
Police responded to the Hilton Grand Vacations on Las Vegas Boulevard at around 4 a.m. July 30. Upon arrival, they found a man bleeding from the back and top of his head, mouth and chin.
The man's breathing was shallow and a "death rattle" could be heard, meaning that his body was so badly injured that the body was making one last attempt to breath and it was resulting in a rattling sound.
According to the arrest report, a surveillance video shows the victim approaching former football player London Lacy at approximately 3:55 a.m. The victim, an older white male, appears intoxicated.
Because the video does not have audio, it is not known what was said. In the beginning, Lacy appears to be calm during the confrontation.
However, a couple of minutes after the incident begins, Lacy places both hands on the victim and pushes him to the ground. Lacy then mounts the victim and begins striking him with both fists.
After the victim is knocked unconscious, Lacy picks the victim up "like a ragdoll" and throws him violently to the ground. Then, Lacy mounts the victim again and repeatedly punches him with both fists.
At this point, the victim's body appears to be lifeless. Lacy stands up, walks a few steps away, and looks at the victim. Then, showing no signs of remorse or pity, he completes a "punt style soccer kick" and lands a direct hit to the victim's jaw.
The arrest report also says that a friend of the former football player, who also played football at UC Davis, watched the entire incident and did nothing to intervene. Afterwards, the two men make their way to a room in the resort.
The responding police officers called for more help and Lacy, his friend and several other people were detained.
Lacy was read his rights at approximately 8:03 a.m. He was then transported to the Clark County Detention Center. No other arrests were made.
Lacy played for UC Davis between 2010 and 2014. He graduated in 2015.
The victim was taken to UMC Trauma Unit. His condition at this time is unknown.
Lacy was charged with attempted murder. He appeared in a Las Vegas courtroom on Friday morning.
