Christianity Today: Trump should be removed from office

Mark Galli, the editor in chief of Christianity Today, published an editorial on Thursday in Christianity Today that President Donald Trump should be removed from office.

The magazine was founded by Billy Graham in 1956. Before Graham's death last year, he said that Trump was a defender of the Christian faith.

"And President Trump has been defending Christians. I find this refreshing to have a president who’s not afraid to say Jesus, he’s not afraid to have prayers where people end in the name of Jesus," Graham told Fox News.

The editorial on Thursday could be considered surprising given Trump's support among evangelical voters.

In a Fox News poll released last week that showed Trump losing in a general election bid against Joe Biden, polling found that 67 percent of evangelicals polled approved of Trump's job performance.

"The facts in this instance are unambiguous: The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents," Galli wrote. "That is not only a violation of the Constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral.

"The reason many are not shocked about this is that this president has dumbed down the idea of morality in his administration. He has hired and fired a number of people who are now convicted criminals. He himself has admitted to immoral actions in business and his relationship with women, about which he remains proud. His Twitter feed alone—with its habitual string of mischaracterizations, lies, and slanders—is a near perfect example of a human being who is morally lost and confused."
