Ice cream lovers rejoice!
Blue Bell Creameries announced Friday its plans to begin the third phase of its five phase market re-entry plan, meaning it will fill stores in the majority of Texas, as well as central and southern Alabama.
It also means Blue Bell will bring back hundreds of employees who were put on paid furlough after the company shut down its factories amid a Listeria outbreak traced back to the frozen treats in May.
“We continue to fill stores in phase two but we can now focus our attention on the addition of phase three beginning Dec. 14,” said Ricky Dickson, vice president of sales and marketing for Blue Bell. “This phase includes most of Alabama and Texas and it is our largest phase so far.”
It wasn’t immediately clear when the next phases would begin and end.
So far, the company is producing Buttered Pecan, Cookies ’n Cream, Dutch Chocolate, Homemade Vanilla and The Great Divide flavors in half-gallon and pint-sized servings in stores.
NBC Dallas-Fort Worth reports that 12-pak Homemade Vanilla Cups and 12-pak Homemade Vanilla and Dutch Chocolate Cups are also available.
Dickson noted that the company acknowledges the process to bring back its ice cream has been lengthy, “and we greatly appreciate the patience and support of our customers.”
