(WJHL/CNN) A Tennessee father is looking for answers after he says a restaurant served his young children alcohol.

Scottie Barnett says he took his three children, ages 9, 10 and 11, to an Applebee's in Johnson City.

The children ordered root beer to drink, and Barnett said all three were given bottles labeled "not your father's root beer".

Barnett looked at the bottles, and saw the drink contained about 6 percent alcohol.

"I immediately told my kids to stop drinking the alcoholic beverage and brought it to her attention. She said 'no, no, it's root beer'. I said 'no it's not' and so she grabs one of the bottles, and she goes to the back of the bottle," said Barnett.

Barnett said his 9-year-old complained of stomach pains and was taken to the hospital for treatment.  He's expected to be ok.

An Applebee's spokesman says the server who provided the drinks has been suspended.

In addition, workers at the restaurant will be completely re-trained. Police were called to the scene, but no charges were filed.

Authorities say no crime was committed.
