One person was shot and later died at Florida Hospital in Tampa Monday morning. Deputies say the shooter is dead from a self-inflicted wound.
Investigators say it was an apparent murder-suicide.The shooting occurred around 7 a.m. in a room on the third floor of the hospital, which is located on East Fletcher Avenue at Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.
The shooting victim is identified as 41-year-old Alonna Tedesco, who died in an emergency operating room. She was visiting the hospital when she was shot. Investigators say the gunman was not an employee at the hospital.
The shooter's relationship to Tedesco was not immediately clear.
Deputies were on the scene about two minutes after the shooting was reported. They quickly determined the shooting scene was limited to the one room.
