A Minnesota woman who was simply taking out the garbage earlier this year is now suing the St. Paul Police Department after she was attacked by a K9.

Police video shows the terrifying incident in the early hours of Sept. 23.

KMSP-TV reported the victim, Desiree Collins of St. Paul, is filing a suit in federal court against the  department for damages stemming from the attack.

Collins is arguing that the officer's leash on the dog was too long and that he did not give proper warning that the K9 was rounding a corner outside his view.

Video shows police did not witness the initial attack and approached a dumpster to find Collins screaming, "Please, help me!" and "What did I do to him?"

The officers apologized to Collins after the incident, saying she was "in the wrong place at the wrong time."

KMSP reported that both the officer and K9 had to undergo training for another month before returning to duty following the attack.
