The next time you hear a rattling sound coming from your hood, it could be more than just engine problems.

According to a Facebook post by the New York Department of EnvironmentalConservation, an officer responded to a complaint by a driver with a reptile problem.

The driver said he had opened the hood of his car to jump start the vehicle and heard the distinctive rattle of a snake. He quickly backed away and spotted a large rattlesnake resting in the center of the engine block.

The driver said he must have disturbed the snake by his actions because it then slithered over to the battery and decided to curl up there.

The officers said the snake was a timber rattlesnake, which was very carefully extracted from the vehicle.

The snake was then released next to several large boulders, which they deemed "a much more snake-appropriate habitat."
