A thief who stole an Indy 500 pace car from an Indianapolis dealership drove it straight through the showroom window, shattering the glass and causing structural damage to the building.
The theft was reported about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bill Estes Chevrolet.
Police said someone got into the pace car and crashed through the showroom window before abandoning the vehicle a few miles away.
Police were searching the area for a suspect as crews worked overnight to repair the building.
