Two-vehicle crash in Martin County kills West Palm Beach man, injures three other people

INDIANTOWN, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol said a 50-year-old West Palm Beach man died Sunday evening in Martin County when he was hit by a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

The wreck happened around 6:11 p.m. in the 25801 SW Warfield Blvd.

A 2000 Ford F-150 driven by Jennifer Shripka, 36, of Okeechobee, Florida, was traveling east on SW Warfield Boulevard when it exited its lane of travel and entered the travel lane of a 1988 Ford Crown Victoria.

The Crown Victoria, driven by Jorge Enrique Avila, 50, of West Palm Beach was traveling west on SW Warfield Boulevard.

The front of the F-150 struck the front of Avila’s vehicle, causing his car to be engulfed in flames.

Avila died at the scene.

A female passenger in Avila’s car, Zoila Ventura, 48, of West Palm Beach, was transported by air to Lawnwood Medical Center with serious injuries.

Shripka was taken to Lawnwood Medical Center with serious injuries. A 12-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the F-150 was transported by ground to Martin Memorial South.

It is unknown at this time if any occupants were wearing a seat belt.

Airbags were deployed. The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending in the case.
