VERO BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say an Indian River County man driving an unregistered ATV was arrested after striking and killing a dog.
Treasure Coast Newspapers reports that 19-year-old Rhett Kramer was arrested Wednesday and charged with a misdemeanor count of driving an unregistered vehicle.
The Indian River County Sheriff's Office say Kramer was riding the ATV in a residential area of Vero Beach when he ran over a neighbor's dog. The neighbor attempted CPR on the dog, but the animal died several minutes later.
The dog's owner said it ran out an open gate into the road.
Investigators say Kramer had previously been warned by deputies about operating the ATV on the road.
