An 8-year-old girl is being hailed a hero after her 911 call that may have saved her grandma's life.
On April 25, Skyla Sullivan called 911 to report that she and her 80-year-old great grandmother, Jean Sullivan, was reaching for something under the car and lost her footing. The vehicle had shifted and rolled over her, pinning her under the vehicle.
"As the situation unfolded, Skyla did an extraordinary job of providing detailed, critical information that led to the response of Hillsborough County Sheriff's Deputies and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Emergency Medical Services personnel. Her great grandmother was eventually freed from under the vehicle, received medical assistance and was transported to a local hospital. We are happy to report that her great grandmother is recovering from her injuries and is doing well," HCSO said.
The agency said Skyla displayed a great deal of care, compassion, maturity, and courage in her interaction with the 911 operator and provided key information that was immediately relayed to the responding deputies and the emergency medical services personnel.
