(NBC NEWSCHANNEL) Daimler AG is recalling about 1 million newer model Mercedes-Benz vehicles worldwide after receiving 51 reports of fires.
The recall covers certain C-class, E-class and CLA cars, as well as GLA and GLC SUVs from model years 2015 through 2017.
Nearly 308,000 of the recalled vehicles are in the U.S..
The German automaker says a starter part can overheat and cause fires.
Owners will be notified this month and again in July when replacement parts become available.
