(NBC) - f you like cheeseburgers, Friday is your day -- it's National Cheeseburger Day!
According to market research from NPD group, U.S. restaurants sold nine billion burgers last year. That was 30 million more than the year prior despite the price of beef rising to record highs.
Overall, Americans consume roughly 50 billion burgers a year, that's about three a week.
In case you didn't know, several restaurants offer a free burger deal during the month of your birthday when you sign-up for their email club or royalty rewards club. Those restaurants include Red Robin, Ruby Tuesday and Steak 'n Shake.
