(NBC NEWSCHANNEL) McDonald’s has announced its restaurants in the U.S. will be getting a major upgrade.

McDonald’s has bold plans to eventually expand self-order kiosks and table service nationwide.

The company says about 500 of its more than 14,000 domestic stores have been testing ordering kiosks for people who do not want to wait for the cashier and table service where customers wait for an employee to bring them their food.

Early next year, it'll expand the offering in Boston, Chicago, san Francisco, Seattle and Washington, D.C.

McDonald’s also plans to introduce a mobile order and pay option next year.
