One of the most unique radio signal patterns in the nation got a well-deserved makeover yesterday as it changed formats. 1230 The Zone, a CBS Sports affiliate, features games from various sports entities including; Miami Marlins; Florida Gator's Basketball; major NFL games on Thursdays, Sundays, and Mondays; the 2018 Winter Olympics; and a variety of college sporting events like the NCAA Final Four and March Madness.
Brian Mudd, Program Director for Sports Radio 1230 The Zone touts, “Our all-star lineup featuring South Florida's own ‘Defo in the Morning,’ The Greek, and Jim Rome will bring the biggest games, the best sports conversation and sports updates you need to know.”
The Greek is featured weekday mornings in the last hour of the morning show (from 9 am - 10 am*) and will maintain his post at the Penthouse on Real Radio (both on 94.3 FM and 101.7 FM).
1230 WBTZ AM is a unique and powerful signal that has two towers (with synchronous amplifiers in Pompano Beach and West Palm Beach) covering Fort Lauderdale to Port St. Lucie. The operator (and my previous employer), iHeartMedia, formerly used the to air brokered shows (clients paid to have shows on the station) with news and traffic updates powered primarily by 1290 WJNO AM's Joel Malkin and Brian Mudd.
