TAMPA BAY, Fla. — A massive 7.5-acre crystal-clear lagoon has been built in Tampa Bay!
Metro Development Group and Crystal Lagoons teamed up to bring America’s first man-made clear water lagoon to Central Florida.
The ‘Epperson’ project in Wesley Chapel is the first of five ongoing lagoon projects being built in the Sunshine State.
The lagoon features:
- Kayaking
- Stand-up paddleboarding
- Sailing on non-motorized sailboats
- Private cabanas
- Swim-up bar
- Tidal pool
- Waterslide
- Yoga lawn
- Restaurants
- And much more!
Each lagoon uses 50 times less water compared to a park of the same size and 30 times less water than an 18-hole golf course.
This first full Crystal Lagoons’ project in the nation is also part of the first ‘Connected City’, which offers exclusive technology and amenities to homebuyers in the area.
The grand opening is taking place on Saturday, April 28, 2018, with special guest, Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Phelps. Phelps is the Crystal Lagoons Official World Ambassador.
The daylong grand opening consists of a tropical-themed celebration featuring planned water ski shows, flyboarding performances, a live Caribbean band performing on Gasparilla Island and even mermaids in the lagoon. Plus, there will be a live band and DJ on the main stage, food trucks, drinks, dancing and more.
"Free parking and free admission provided to guests. While the event is almost at capacity, people who are interested in Epperson and other Metro Places communities are encouraged to join the waitlist by registering on the website," the company wrote in a press release.
Crystal Lagoons has over 600 projects worldwide in over 60 countries.
