Crystal-clear blue water. Abundant wildlife. Natural Florida beauty. Weeki Wachee Springs is one of the most magical experiences you can have in Florida.
"The experience of kayaking on the Weeki Wachee River is unlike any other," said John Athanson, public relations manager of Weeki Wachee. "The wildlife and clarity of the water is just an amazing trip and journey if you're looking to kayak. This is the place to go."
Whether you’re paddling for adventure or relaxation, your 3-hour float down 5.5 miles of the tranquil, crystal-clear Weeki Wachee River will take your breath away with its unspoiled natural beauty and wildlife.
Much of your picturesque journey will be underneath the shade of cypress and oak trees, and of course, Florida’s distinctive palms. Along the way, you may find yourself paddling alongside the gentle giants and endangered West Indian manatees. You may also see turtles, otters, storks and pelicans, and underwater marine life in water so clear, you’d swear you were in an aquarium.
Even if you’ve never kayaked or stand-up paddle boarded before, don’t be shy. Experienced staff members will provide you with basic instructions and the Weeki Wachee River is very easy to navigate, even for beginners. And don’t forget to pack a picnic lunch and non-alcoholic beverages (no glass) to enjoy at various stopping areas along the river.
