The School District of Palm Beach County, Department of Safe Schools, was awarded the “Now Is The Time” Project AWARE - Community Grant from the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

The project is a partnership between the School District and local behavioral health and advocacy groups. The project goals are to: train a broad array of adults in Palm Beach County who intersect with youth in Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) and increase the number of individuals referred to mental health or related services.

On January 28, 2016, 14 School District and community members became certified YMHFA trainers and will provide training to over 2,200 teachers and other School District personnel, parents and caregivers, law enforcement, faith-based leaders, community agency staff, and policy makers.
