DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. -- A man is dead after the Broward Sheriff's Office says he was shot and killed by clerks while trying to rob a convenience store in Deerfield Beach.

BSO says a man armed with a gun walked into the Snappy Convenience Store at 115 SE 10th Street in Deerfield Beach around 7:40 Friday night with the intent to rob the store.

It is not known what was said between the robber and the clerks, but two clerks pulled their own guns and shot at the robber multiple times, striking and killing him inside the store.

Officials have not yet determined how many times the robber was hit or if he shot back.

Detectives are processing the scene and reviewing surveillance video.

Neither the clerks or the customer who witnessed the shooting were injured.
