Port St. Lucie police said a 50-year-old woman was killed Monday morning while she was trying to cross a busy intersection.
Police public information officer Frank Sabol said the incident happened at the intersection of Port St. Lucie and Airoso boulevards around 6:40 a.m.
The driver had a green light and was heading eastbound on Port St. Lucie Boulevard in a 2009 Chevy Blazer.
Investigators said the woman, identified as Antonette Bauman of Port St. Lucie, was in the median when she stepped in front of the vehicle and was struck and killed.
She was transported to St. Lucie Medical Center where she died.
Sabol said no charges are expected to be filed against the driver, who was not injured.
