Recent crimes at a Boca Raton theater have hampered production of shows.

In the surveillance video, you see someone enter through a keypad locked door and rush through a hallway.  A few minutes later, the thief appears on the box office camera, with a Mac computer in hand.

The computer is in charge of projections and animations for the Wick Theatre's production of "Beauty and the Beast."

"In my 37 years of doing stage management, this is the first time that I had to actually call our producer and say I suggest highly that we cannot effectively do this production with a paying audience," said Dom Ruggiero, the director and stage manager.

"We had a full house, 341 patrons coming and we had 150 underprivileged children coming here to the theater," said Marilynn Wick, the theater's executive producer.

"There was one young man with Down syndrome who just kept looking at me," said  Jay Van Vechten, chairman with the American Disabilities Foundation. "He couldn't believe what I was telling them. And I said, maybe your mom can take you to the movie. She said that's a good idea, lets go to the movies and he said that's great, but I want to see the show."

Now, the race is on to get the replacement Mac up to speed ahead of the Thursday night show.

Wick estimates the loss of revenue, redirected man power and computer loss and replacement at around $50,000.

"Everyone all the way around has been extremely supportive but this is something that should never happen to your local theater," Wick says.

This burglary comes 10 days after someone broke in and stole $1,000, and tried and failed to get away with a different computer.

That crime remains unsolved.

The theater is planning on adding another showing to replace this one that was lost. If you have any information that could help the Boca Raton police in their investigation, call them.
