Two men were arrested in connection with the 2014 murder of 30-year-old Kevin Howe, according to the Indian River County Sheriff's Office.
Howe was shot in the head on July 27, 2014 at a Hampton Inn hotel in Vero Beach. He was transported to Lawnwood Medical Center and died 4 days later.
Crime scene detectives were able to recover Howe's cellular phone, spent shell casings, over $5,000 in cash, cocaine, ecstasy and guns. Among those items, detectives noticed a styrofoam cup from a Kangaroo gas station and a glass vodka bottle in the room.
The Kangaroo cup was processed for possible DNA and fingerprints from the vodka glass bottle were submitted for examination.
The DNA sample determined that the DNA found on the Kangaroo cup, left in the hotel room where the murder occurred, belonged to 26-year-old Jason Hiler of Deland.
Detectives interviewed Hiler in New Jersey, where he headed shortly after Howe's death.
Hiler is being held without bond at the Keogh-Dwyer Corrections Institute at the Sussex County Sheriff's Officein New Jersey.
A match on the fingerprints submitted from the vodka bottle, was identified as belonging to 22-year-old Javon Roberts of Sanford.
Roberts was arrested by the Sanford Police Department and is being held without bond at the Seminole County Jail.
They were both charged with murder.
