A vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian Sunday night in Indian River County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
53-year-old Susan Lynn Mesler of Barefoot Bay was attempting to cross the 13,000 block of U.S. 1 just after 7 o'clock when the front of a Ford Escape struck her, FHP said.
Mesler was taken to an area hospital when she was pronounced dead.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, FHP said.
