Traffic accident causes power outage to some WPB customers

UPDATE: According to Florida Power & Light, power was restored to all customers affected by the incident.  

EARLIER STORY:

A traffic accident has caused some to lose power in West Palm Beach Friday evening. 

The incident involving a transmission line occurred at 7:05 p.m. and at its peak, 18,000 customers were affected by the power outage. 

An FPL representative confirmed that number has been reduced to 84 customers.

The incident happened at 31402 45th Street, near Village Boulevard. 

An FPL representative confirmed the utility company is working with city police departments to reroute traffic in this area.

According to West Palm Beach Fire Rescue, there is a high-voltage power line on the road.  FPL shut off power in order to avoid any fire.

45th Street is blocked between Village Boulevard and Military Trail. 

No serious injury has occurred as a result of the traffic accident or power line.
