The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said an 18-year-old man was killed early Monday morning in a single-vehicle wreck in Royal Palm Beach.

The crash occurred just before 3 a.m. on westbound Okeechobee Boulevard near Wildcat Way when a 1994 Honda Civic hit a median then smashed into a tree.

The Civic, driven by Bryan Adam Valentin, was traveling westbound on Okeechobee Boulevard when it lost control while trying to negotiate a left curve.

The car was speeding and the driver over-corrected, causing the Civic to rotate and move toward the center median.

The Civic entered the center median and smashed into a tree.

Valentin, a Royal Palm Beach resident, was pronounced dead at the scene by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

PBSO said the driver's airbag and seat belt had been removed from the vehicle before the crash.

All lanes were back open by 6 a.m. after earlier road closures.
