A Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office training officer has been demoted after he was caught playing video games instead of dispatching calls.

According to a disciplinary review report, communications training officer Charles M. Morris was working as a dispatcher on Oct. 21 when a supervisor spotted him playing a handheld video game.

On this day, a call came to PBSO regarding at hit-and-run accident in Lake Park.  However, it took 40 minutes before the call was dispatched.

In another instance, a shooting occurred and the call was held for nine minutes before Morris dispatched a unit to the scene.

The report said this is the third time Morris has neglected his duties from Oct. 22, 2014 to Oct. 21, 2015.

PBSO said Morris was demoted from training officer to dispatcher.
