Supporters lined up to welcome Mr. Trump as his motorcade passed them on Southern Boulevard on the way to Palm Beach.
"We are so excited that all of our hard work paid off," said Paula Prudente who campaigned for Trump outside of the Supervisor of Elections Office in Palm Beach County during early voting.
The president-elect flew out of New York with his family Tuesday afternoon. He arrived at Palm Beach International Airport just after 7 p.m. His arrival called for restrictions in the air, water, and on the ground. Secret Service agents and dozens of Palm Beach County Sheriff's Deputies escorted Mr. Trump and his family to what many are calling the winter White House.
"I don't think he wants to disrupt anything more than he has to. I think he'll go back and forth to the golf course and that will be it," said Tony Senecal, Trump's longtime former butler when asked about whether Mr. Trump will visit any of his favorite Palm Beach spots.
Senecal worked at Mar-a-Lago for 50 years. He remembers when he first met Mr. Trump when he took over the property in the 80s.
"85, when he actually took possession of the place and he tells people, Tony came with the furniture. And I basically did," added Senecal.
Senecal says Thanksgivings at Mar-a-Lago are busy. He expects dinner to include mostly family, but doesn't rule out any special guests.
"He's an entertainer. He puts on a show," said Senecal.
Senecal retired in 2009, but stuck around Mar-a-Lago as a historian till 2015. He remembers the beginning of Secret Service's presence during the campaign. He says his former boss wasn't thrilled about the entourage.
"There would be 4 ot 5 SUVs going to the golf course. It was like a parade. They would go to the golf course and come back and Mr. Trump was funny because he didn't like that. He wants to drive himself. So he would drive three of the agents in his car and the rest would follow in the SUVs. It would be tight now," added Senecal.
Trump is expected to stay in town until Monday. During that time, air space will be restricted and the Coast Guard will maintain secure zones on waterways around Mar-a-Lago.
