A mother and her 6-year-old son were transported to the hospital after being bitten by their family dog Tuesday afternoon, according to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Captain Albert Borroto.
Officials say the incident happed at 1 p.m. on a home at Hibiscus Tree Drive in Lantana.
The dog will not be removed from the home because it is a family pet, said Captain Dave Walesky with Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control.
The incident is under investigation.
