Two years ago, Dr. Ron Gold bought a two story building in Lake Worth and turned it into his wellness center. He said, "I fell in love with this old historic town and I thought it would be a good investment."

He hopes a proposed plan for the historic Gulfstream Hotel two blocks away will boost his business.

The Gulfstream was built in the 1920's.

Tonight, the Historic Resource Preservation Board looked at renderings to renovate it and expand it into a $60 million development, including a structure for parking and a swimming pool.

"It will really  help the economy and help the businesses as well." Dr. Gold said.

A few residents have filed a lawsuit, expressing concerns about the construction that will take place-- but not opposing the renovations inside the hotel.

But area businesses we spoke with say the hotel will be good for Lake Worth. Patti Lucia, owner of Mother Earth Sanctuary Cafe said, "I hope it's not an if, I hope it's when. And I hope it's soon. Because I remember when the Gulfstream was open and I enjoyed going there myself. Love that sight, it's a beautiful hotel and I am just looking forward to it being open."

The board met tonight at 6pm in the Commission Chambers.
