UPDATE: The boil water notice has been rescinded for the Lake Osborne Waterworks customers, officials said.

EARLIER:

A precautionary boil water notice is in effect  for Lake Osborne Waterworks customers. It is due to a water line break on Monday.

Here is the notice being delivered to residents:

Due to a water main break at the corner of Lake Geneva and Crest Drive earlier this morning, your water system will be shut down to complete the line repair.  As a precaution, once water service has returned, a precautionary boil water notice is being issued until a two day bacteriological survey can be performed yielding clear results. We advise that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, washing dishes, or brushing teeth be boiled. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. As an alternative, BOTTLED WATER MAY BE USED.

This “Precautionary Boil Water Notice” will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink, at which point the boil water notice will be rescinded. Testing normally takes two to three days to complete.
