In the ongoing race for subscription-based streaming video domination, Amazon has taken a step to allow its users more freedom than competitors like Netflix and Hulu.
The company announced Tuesday it will allow Amazon Prime subscribers to download movies and TV series to iPhones, iPads and Android devices. The move will allow Amazon Instant Video users to continue binge-watching TV episodes when away from an Internet connection.
This feature isn't completely new to Amazon's service package, as subscribers that use the company's Fire devices have been able to download video on the go since September 2013.
"We are proud to be the first and only online subscription streaming service that enables offline viewing — on vacation, in a car, at the beach, on a plane, wherever," said Michael Paull, Amazon's vice president of digital video, in a statement.
