Most of the Gulf Coast has been dealing with dangerously hot weather for days now.
Heat advisories and excessive heat warnings continue to line the Gulf Coast from Texas to Florida.
Heat index values are forecast to be well into the triple digits both Monday and Tuesday. When conditions are this hot, ailments like heat exhaustion and heat stroke can occur quickly.
At the very least, some people are trying to make the best of the heat. The National Weather Service office in Shreveport is seeing if cookies will bake in a car left in the sun.

Baking cookies aside, this heat is about to subside.
A cold front is going to swing across the entire Gulf Coast on Monday night and into Tuesday, which will drop temperatures by five to ten degrees. The same front will also drop the humidity, too. This combination won't make it cool by any stretch, but it's relief from dangerous weather, nonetheless.
After that, the South will have to go back to baking cookies the old fashioned way - in an oven.
