If you’ve ever wondered about your family history and considered taking a genetic DNA test, now is the time.

Now through April 29, AncestryDNA is offering its genetic testing kits for only $59 — nearly half of the normal $100 fee. Standard shipping is $9.95 for the first kit and $4.95 for each additional kit.

From discovering your ethnicity to connecting with relatives you may have never met, AncestryDNA says the test can estimate your origins to more than 350 regions around the world. All it takes is a sample of your DNA, via a simple saliva test you can do right at home.

Once your order the kit, all you do is use the saliva collection tube, put it in a pre-paid return mailer and drop it in the mail. From there, your DNA is processed in a lab and you will then get an email notifying you of your results in 6-8 weeks.

AncestryDNA says it is the leader in DNA testing for family history. The company’s database includes more than 7 million people who have already taken the test, so you’ll not only be able to trace your family history via more than 20 billion historical records, but perhaps even find some living relatives.

If you want to know about your family history, but not submit a DNA sample, you can also use Ancestry to make a family tree. You will need to know the names and details of as many relatives as you can, but you do not need to submit your DNA.

Another company that offers DNA testing, 23andMe, is offering its services at a discount right now, as well. Until April 25, you can order a 23andMe test kit for 30-percent off the normal price. The company’s Ancestry Service – its lowest cost DNA testing service — is now available for $69, which is down from its normal $99 fee. Standard shipping is $9.95.
