A multi-vehicle crash caused an SUV to overturn off the Howard Frankland Bridge and into the water.

Numerous crews responded to the Howard Frankland Bridge SB at around 7:30 a.m. for a report of a car in the water.

The Coast Guard confirmed to ABC Action News that a vehicle did go into the water. Divers and rescue crews were on scene, and FHP says a white SUV has been located.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the white SUV was traveling in a reckless manner near the 34 milepost. That SUV changed lanes into the path of a Ford F150. As a result, the right rear of the SUV collided with the front left of the truck.

The truck came to a rest in the center lanes of the bridge, and the SUV overturned multiple times before going off the bridge and into the Bay.

Massive traffic delays are building heading over the bridge into St. Pete and motorists are advised to take an alternate route.

All lanes are closed and traffic is getting by on the shoulder.
