(NBC) - Dog owners, we may now have the answer to an age-old mystery.
According to a new study from the Family Dog Project, dogs really do understand what we are saying to them.

Researchers found that dogs comprehend words and tone, using brain regions similar to those we humans use.
The team used an MRI to measure dogs' brain activity, as they listened to their trainers talk.
