(WXIN/AOL) A photo of an Indiana teenager working at Chick-fil-A in a neck brace and sling has gone viral on social media.

Local media outlets report that the teen, identified as Jakeem Tyler,18, was recently injured in a car crash.

Despite his injuries, Tyler has been hard at work handling his duties at a Chick-fil-A in Avon, Ind.

When a customer, Cameron Nelson, walked in and saw him taking orders, he asked the teen why he wasn’t home recovering.  Tyler replied he didn’t want to let his team down by just calling in and not showing up.

Also, Tyler told Nelson that he wanted to use the money for Christmas presents and to feed the homeless.

Tyler’s words inspired Nelson to share a photo on Facebook of the teen hard at work.  The post has been shared 4,300 times and liked more than 9,700 times since Dec. 8.

Nelson said he wanted to raise $2,500 for Tyler’s efforts, but a GoFundMePage has already raised more than $6,000 for the homeless.

The owners of the Chick-fil-A describe Tyler as a phenomenal man and excellent team member.
