Firefighters dispatched to a semi fire near the Tennessee-Georgia border early Monday morning got quite the surprise.

Three African elephants greeted the firefighters when they responded to the fire on Interstate 24 at about 2 a m.

The tractor was on fire, but the trailer hauling the elephants was not.

The owners got the elephants safely out of the trailer and gave them some hay to munch on while firefighters extinguished the fire.

First responders say the elephants were "huge," but well behaved.

None of the animals or humans were injured.

Once the fire was extinguished, the owners made some calls to get another tractor to continue their trip to Sarasota, Fla.

The fire is under investigation.
