The Florida Department of Health says there are more than 1,000 cases of hepatitis Ain Florida and one of the latest was reported in Martin County.
It says the current number of hepatitis A cases in Martin County now stands at 20.
“We know that it is rampant in the high risk population, so what we are doing in Saint Lucie and Martin and every other county in Florida is finding these high risk populations and vaccinating and trying to stop the spread of the virus,” Saint Lucie County Health Department spokesperson Clint Sperber said recently to WPTV.
The health department says it is offering free hepatitis A vaccinations for uninsured, underinsured and at-risk adults (ages 19 and older). Click here for more information in Martin County
