Do you have a loved one experiencing signs of Alzheimer's or dementia? There's a free memory screening being held Tuesday in Jensen Beach.

It’s being held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Grand Oaks of Jensen Beach located at 125 N.W. Jensen Beach Blvd.

While not a diagnosis, memory screenings can help tell the difference between a serious illness or just experiencing the normal effects of old age.

"These screenings are fundamental in determining whether or not someone has memory problems," says Nicolette Christie, an advanced registered nurse practitioner with extensive neurological experience who conducts the screenings and also staffs VNA of Florida's mobile medical clinic. "Many individuals with dementia remain undiagnosed and family members often fail to recognize early cognitive symptoms."
