Selling your stuff requires little more than a quality photo and a professionally worded post.

Diana Blinkhorn authors the Gray Ruby Diaries blog and works as a stay at home of three little girls. She showed us how she turns her clutter into cash.  A kids’ play tower used by all three of her daughters sold for $75.

Blinkhorn’s go-to for selling her old belongings: Facebook Marketplace. She’s used the site to sell everything from odd chairs to paintings and toys. You can use the platform to advertise in your immediate area or neighborhood.

When it comes to clothes, shoes and custom jewelry, fashion blogger Shelley Sciortino sells her stuff on

Sciortino, who writes the Coveting Knox blog, agrees staging items is worth the effort. She takes multiple photos in a well lit room and often uses the manufacturer’s own description.

For her household items and baby gear, this stay at home mom of two preschoolers turns to Offer Up. Sciortino has pocketed $70 on nursery artwork and another $125 for a stroller.

Whether it's an old chair or a pair of high end jeans, the same rules apply for selling your stuff. Take good care of your things, use quality photos and the manufacturer's description and be honest about the condition of the item.

Not into staging and posting your no longer worn clothes, purses and shoes? Door to door services like the Real Real, a higher end online clothing consignment, will pick up your items, post the ad and collect the cash for you.

Expert money saver Tracy Shaw writes the blog "Having Fun Saving."  Shaw figures she pockets more money by skipping the consignment shops. She’s marketed everything from furniture to toys and clothing.

A doll house recently fetched $75 and Shaw picked up another $75 on a three year old storage cabinet that was taking up space in her garage.

The way Shaw looks at it, she picks up some spending money for her family while others find what they are looking for at a discount.
