Taco Bell test markets Fritos Taco in Memphis

The Taco Bell Fritos Taco sound like an idea that can’t go wrong, but for now, you can only get it in Memphis.

According to Memphis NBC affiliateWMC Action News, the new concoction was launched this week by the fast-food company using only Memphis as a test market. An ad for the new taco touched off a stir on Reddit.com, and WMC reports that if the taco tests well in Memphis, it will go national.

WMC says the taco is available in two varieties: the traditional Fritos flavor and a chili cheese option.

Fritos have been a popular unofficial add-on to taco salads and chili for decades. In fact, the East Tennessee-based fast-food chain Petro’s got its start during Knoxville’s 1982 World’s Fair when the company’s founders served chili and toppings atop Fritos in split-open bags of the corn chips.
