These days it seems everything's disposable.
Whether it's a new iPhone 6, a computer or an appliance, after a few years it's pretty much done and time to trade up for a new one.
But there are still a few consumer products that last forever.
No More 40-Year Washers
Remember back when mom's old Maytag, with the big dial on the front, would last 40 years? Not anymore.
Nowadays, a 2-year-old iPhone 5 is considered on its last legs! And many kitchen appliances don't last much longer either.
But AOL Daily Finance says there are still some products that never need replacing.
Among them:
- Electrolux vacuums
- Kitchen Aid mixers
- North Face jackets, that will go out of style long before they wear out.
- JanSport backpacks
- Carhart jackets
- Nintendo's GameBoy color hand held video system
- The Nintendo 64
- Older model Texas Instruments calculators
- Your old baby blanket
Doesn't That Stink?
But from the "doesn't that stink" file: High-efficiency products with short lifespans.
Todays high-efficiency refrigerators and washing machines use lots of electronics and plastics, which simply will not last 30 years.
When it goes after 10 years, you might say "doesn't that stink?" But get used to it: Like a Kim Kardashian marriage, many things just don't last as long as they should.
So it's good to know that in this disposable society there are still a few things that last more than a couple of years.
With those, you don't have to open up your wallet every couple of years, and you don't waste your money.
