If you're a truly savvy shopper, you know that the best time to buy most items is when they're not in season. JCPenney is discounting Christmas trees right now, so if you've been waiting for a deal to replace yours, you might want to take a look at some of their inventory. Christmas trees on the JCPenney website are 50 percent off right now. On top of that, you can get an extra 25 percent off when you use the promo code 48GOSHOP. The promo code expires Sept. 27 and it's only good online, so keep that in mind as you're perusing the JCPenney website. Also through Sept. 27, you can score free shipping, with no minimum purchase! This means your Christmas tree will arrive on your doorstep, without you having to lift a finger. You can also select "Ship To Store" if you'd rather pick up your tree at your local JCPenney. We also want to point out that we found these Christmas tree deals online. When you click into each tree, you'll see a little button you can click that says "Check Store Inventory." This will help you determine whether the same tree (and the same discount!) is available at your local store. Before you hop in the car, either use this function or call your local JCPenney to find out if they've got the same sale going on and how their inventory stacks up. Here's a small sampling of the Christmas trees that are on sale at JCPenney now:

7-Foot Pre-Lit Tree

This North Pole Trading Co. tree is seven feet tall and pre-lit. It's marked down to just $79.99 (regularly $160). The price drops even lower to $60 with the extra 25 percent off!

6.5-Foot Tree

Here's another pre-lit tree from North Pole Trading Co. on sale. This 6.5-foot tree is on sale for $99.99 before the promo code.

Birch Tree

Looking for something a little less traditional? Consider this 2-foot birch Christmas tree, on sale for $19.99 (regularly $40).
