All the TV's at The Cooper will be turned to WPTV NewsChannel 5 on Saturday as we air the Kentucky Derby (our coverage begins at 2:30 p.m.).

The Cooper is hosting a "Kentucky Derby Happy Hour" from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and has curated an appropriately themed menu including mint juleps, Derby Devil Eggs, and cornmeal fried green tomatoes.

We asked The Cooper bartender Tennette Shumaker how she makes the perfect mint julep.

The Cooper's Mint Julep
Use a silver or pewter cup.
Place three to four mint leaves
1/2 ounce of simple syrup (video on how to make this is below)
Muddle the mint (Don't over do it)
2 ounces of Woodford Reserve (The official bourbon of the Derby).
Fill the cup with crushed ice (Sonic has the best ice)
