South Florida is in for a bumpy ride Tuesday and Wednesday as several waves of energy, including a cold front, spark up storms in the area during the afternoon hours.

The Storm Prediction Center has our area under a marginal risk for severe storms both days.

The marginal risk level is the lowest assigned risk level from the SPC meaning only isolated severe storms are possible. Even isolated severe storms can cause significant damage so it's important to stay weather aware today and tomorrow.

Storms will be scattered Tuesday afternoon with a few reaching severe limits. Storms will begin bubbling up by lunchtime and continue into the early evening, especially in Palm Beach County. The main threats with these storms will be frequent lightning, gusty winds 50+ mph, quarter size hail and locally heavy rain.

Wednesday brings a higher threat of more widespread severe storms as the cold front approaches our area. Gusty winds and severe hail will be the biggest threats Wednesday afternoon.

The cold front will pass south Florida by Thursday morning ushering in much cooler, less humid air making for a beautiful weekend.

Your Storm Team 5 meteorologists will be tracking the storms and keeping you updated with any severe weather alerts today and tomorrow.
