PASCO COUNTY, Fla. - A Pasco County Sheriff's Office Corporal used a Taser on a man after he was caught with drugs and tried to run from a traffic stop.
It started as a routine traffic stop when a tan Toyota Prius ran a stop sign at Oakley Ave. and US 19.
Police say the driver, Cameron Jones, was extremely nervous and was asked to step out of the car. He consented to a pat down, where an officer felt a plastic baggie in his pocket.
He claimed he didn't know what it was, and he took it out and put it on the trunk. The officer saw a clear rock like substance. At that point Jones pulled away, grabbed the bag and took off running.
He threw the bag into the woods, and after being told to stop several times, a Taser was used on him and he was detained. Inside the plastic bag were .8 grams of field tested positive meth, .9 grams of powdered heroin, and 9 individually wrapped foil packets of heroin packaged for sale.
Inside the car was a loaded syringe which tested positive for heroin. An additional 15 syringes were also found in the vehicle. He was arrested for possession of heroin, meth, paraphernalia, resisting an officer without violence, and tampering with physical evidence.
Crews from the tv show "COPS" were also there filming the incident.
Jones had previously been arrested as part of "Operation Bahama Breeze" in 2003, where several people brought 55 pounds of cocaine a month from South Florida to Pasco/Pinellas for distribution.
