TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida Gov. Rick Scott is launching an expensive television ad campaign to convince state legislators to back his tax cut package.

Scott's political committee will start airing ads next week in the state's media markets. The ad buy by Let's Get to Work is expected to cost more than $1 million.

Scott wants state legislators this year to approve $1 billion worth of tax cuts. He is also asking the Florida Legislature to create a $250 million fund to lure businesses to the state.

The ad, which features Scott and business owners, says the changes are needed to help diversify the state's economy.

Brecht Heuchan, senior political adviser for Let's Get to Work, said the ads will be featured on both broadcast and cable and will include Spanish and English versions.
