ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. -- A St. Lucie County Sheriff's Deputy accidentally discharged his service weapon Thursday afternoon at the Gary Morales Training Complex and injured himself in the thigh, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.

The Deputy was conducting routine agency training in firearms proficiency, the sheriff says.

The Deputy sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Lawnwood Medical Center where he was later released.
