A man wearing gloves and a mask and captured on a security camera has piqued the curiosity of Port St. Lucie Police.

On Monday at 2 a.m., the man was seen looking into a car on the 700 block of SE Autumn Terrace.

Police say there have been 8 recent break-ins to either cars or homes in the area.

As Tami Gavin watched the video, she wonders if this is the person who broke into her car last month, not too far from where the man was spotted. Her wallet was stolen. Now she's changing her ways.

"Much more careful to make sure I lock my car," says Gavin.

Chris Heissenberg also had his car broken into just this past Sunday on Brooked Avenue, although nothing was taken.

"It's something that always got to be in the back of your mind."

Nancy Watson is checking her own security cameras for any potential thieves.

"If I can help, I'm here to help," says Watson.

Everyone is hoping someone is caught soon.

"Makes you think twice about where you live and what you do in the afternoons," says Gavin.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers.

Police say there have been 8 recent break-ins to either cars or homes in the area.
