A Good Samaritan helped apprehend a suspected armed robber Saturday night by following him with his car while giving directions to police.

The suspect is accused of forcing a store employee at H&M Discount Beverage on U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce to the floor at gunpoint before taking off with store's cash drawer.

The employee chased the suspect out the door and told a customer what happened.

That's when the customer gave chase.

Officers caught up with the suspect near the 4100 block of South 25th St. in Fort Pierce and took Ryan Horton, 34, into custody.

The employee was able to identify Horton as the man who robber her.

Horton was charged with armed robbery, false imprisonment and aggravated assault and transported to the St. Lucie County Jail.
